For the first time in history,
presidential, parliament and regional elections in Indonesia
were taking place on the same day: on 17 April 2019.
About 190 million Indonesian were eligible to vote.
About 245,000 candidates were be running
for more than 20,000 national and local legislative seats
across a country made up of around 18,000 islands.
It’s a massive complex democratic undertaking.

On Saturday afternoon, we were walking back home from the shopping centre with a new pair of jeans and T-shirts in my bag. Suddenly I stopped and started crying. Tobias was worried and we sat on a bench at the sidewalk, he hugged me close.
