We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
This week I read a news that a young man in Indonesia was encouraged by spectators to jump from a rooftop. They wanted to film it and publish the video.
Not only that, a malicious hoax of “Momo Suicide Challenge” has created a moral panic on social networks spread by irresponsible people.
This society is sick with terminal woeful ignorance.
::: BE CONNECTED
We may progress in science and technology.
But, in our moral responsibility to care for one another and our planet,
we are rapidly going backwards.
A concurrent decrease in basic human decency.
The world has become increasingly unstable and dangerous.
Increasing economic and social inequalities,
terrorism and wars,
ecological degradation,
social violence,
a generalized spread of social fear,
individual frustration,
and a lack of respect for life.
Every single day,
the mindless deeds of fools fill the newscasts.
Arrogance and brazenness abound out in public.
People don’t care whether they offend anyone.
People are being rude, crass, impatient,
demanding, boastful, petty,
irreverent, cruel, and selfish.
We became a society of disconnected people.
Humanity is the living dead.
Rediscover the purpose of human existence.
Jesus is the crucial linchpin,
unfolding of everything what life is about.
To make a new humanity,
reconcile humanity to the Almighty.
To make a new family,
unity in Christ.
We’re defined
no longer by our background nor status,
but by one thing above,
Jesus who loves us.
Grace is available for everyone.
::: TO LEAN IN LIFE-GIVING POWER
The greatest disease today is not cancer. It’s being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. The only cure for loneliness, despair and hopelessness is love.
Life would grind to a halt,
when we lose the ability to desire.
Unfortunately,
often we are chained to our desires
like a slave to his master,
which drive us unwitting into a life of
inevitable frustration, strife and pain.
But we just keep doing it.
Society also gives rise to destructive desires.
Fame, power and wealth, for social status.
To satisfy, please, impress.
To prove them inferiority.
It ruin us,
but we just keep loving it.
I believe,
there’s an incomparably great power.
The same power
that transformed the death of Jesus into resurrection lives.
The same power
that gives up status and authority,
to absorb and to take the hit on behalf of sinful humans,
because of His commitment,
love and mercy for us is so strong.
The power of love.
This power,
is not to underwrite our dreams to the stars.
But it’s to change us.
The dark-force no longer can
determine for us what is right and wrong.
Instead, in Jesus Christ,
we discovered again our humanity,
we discovered “we’re beloved” status.
::: GREAT HUMBLING
We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
I am very concerned with the situation in my home country, Indonesia. The rising of cultural hatred and intolerance has been formalized to some extent through public and legal institutions. Our democracy, ideology of Pancasila, pluralism and diversity is fading.
I see many people
find something to hold onto in this world,
that give them meaning, identity and purpose.
For some people,
it’s race and ethnicity,
it’s culture and heritage,
it’s music and art, etc.
This is how they know
“who I am” in the world,
and others are nothing.
They are scapegoats,
directing their fear and hatred toward others.
Cultural pride,
mounted by evil power,
dividing human-beings,
through superiority complexes,
through pride and arrogance.
It’s endangering.
There’s a new humanity,
every tribe is welcome.
In Christ, we are one family.
We humble ourselves,
we express the diverse culture,
we no longer let the prejudices,
the collusions of pride,
bring division in differences.
We won’t stew on the conflict and anger.
Instead,
we’ll move forward and forgive,
we’ll make it right.
As the children of God,
we grow together in differences.
::: TO HOPE AND ENDEAVOR
Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. ~ Helen Keller
My hope is a conviction
that my present circumstances
don’t determine the meaning of my life.
The life, death, resurrection of Jesus,
transform a symphony
from a collection of notes
into a message of humanity.
I wake up to this privilege
and challenge to the calling,
that I become the witness
of His grace and love.
I am a pen in the hand of God,
who is sending a love letter to you.
::: TO PRAY FOR PEACE
The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service and the fruit of service is peace. ~ Mother Theresa
This is important for me personally.
To pray with and for others.
Through prayer,
a new mind of living will emerge.
Gospel made visible,
generate a fairytale of grace.
Prayer is very important in times of crisis.
Prayer is very important in times of peace.
We always need prayer to keep afloat.
I am praying,
not for so-and-so’s,
but for spirit of wisdom and revelation.
So whatever circumstances in your life,
it becomes an opportunity
to draw closer to Jesus,
to be enlightened by His grace and presence,
to see that He is there with you.
Amen.

“Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.” Ephesians 2:16 NLT
“so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,” Ephesians 4:14-15 ESV
